I had a lot of problems getting into this show. Firstly, the fact that it has yuri floating out of every image posted prior to its broadcast didn't fill me with a great deal of hope, then releases of which we shan't go into here were spotty at best, though less so now.
Then I actually watched the show. And for about 1 and a half episodes my brain fried. I don't know if it is the translation or just the way they try to explain the world this is set in, but they do a terrible job telling us what Simoun, Shimure, Tempus Patium, Remurgion, the Spring etc etc actually are.... And it is hard to know if those characters we've seen in the opening credits have been killed already or if they're just being coy about such things. At least the artwork is pretty, and the Simoun, themselves, look like something out of Last Exile, and the cg animation was probably the best thing to come out of that show.
Having now watched the next two episodes, I have some idea of what is going on and what this world is about, and it isn't as bad as I was expecting it to be. And they, at least, have tried to justify why the entire cast is female (or not so female) to a degree (and thusly the yuri relationships which aren't always entirely yuri). All I will say is RW shivered at the thought of all the futanari doujin this show could produce. Don't ask what that means, it'll trip the moderators' subject delete buttons.
Oh and one more thing: the studio that produces this show is the third of the three great satans of anime.... Deen! (The other two being Gonzo and BeeTrain). That doesn't fill me with a whole lot of hope for the future.... But at least it'll look pretty.
