SAITAMA — The Saitama prefectural police have decided to send papers to prosecutors on around six people, including three city officials of Fujimino in the prefecture, over a fatal accident at a municipal swimming pool earlier this year, investigative sources said late Thursday.
The victim, Erika Tomaru, 7, died July 31 in the pool after she was sucked into the intake pipe of the pool shortly after one of two grid-shaped aluminum lids covering the mouth of the pipe was found to have fallen off. The remaining three are believed to be officials of Taiyo Kanzai KK, a facility maintenance company, Kyomei Planning, a building maintenance company subcontracted to manage the pool, and the pool's on-site supervisor at the time of the accident.
