SINGAPORE — An inaugural anti-piracy meeting of Asian governments began Monday as part of a Japan-initiated pact to combat piracy in the region, especially in the Malacca Strait, one of the world's busiest waterways.
Fourteen Asian countries which are signatories to the "regional cooperation agreement on combating piracy and armed robbery against ships in Asia," or better known as "ReCAAP," are participating in the four-day meeting.
