This would be the Aria that rates 8.4-8.5 out of 10 for its first two seasons compared to Last Exile's 8.8. Which still puts both shows roughly in the same league there, as well.
Now I'm just splitting hairs. I can watch Aria anyday. Easiest show in history to watch. Last Exile requires a bit of Aria to clean the brain out afterwards. Of course, I'm planning to rewatch Last Exile again, soon, so I'll see if the 3-4 years since I last watched it have changed my opinion of it....

Yes, but then Kanokon isn't exactly the best argument for the incorrect assessment of critics.
I can be harsh on shows that I actually like. Cowboy Bebop tries too hard to be cool/everything to everyone, Azumanga Daioh is pretty empty once you've watched it all, Haibane Renmei really is slow and only just manages to stretch a fairly lean animation budget, Mushishi is 26 episodes of "why are we putting up with these friggin' mushi, then?", Zettai Shonen is two series that couldn't survive without each other, and is twice as long as it needs to be, as the filler is made up of people utterly failing to talk to each other despite stated desires to do otherwise, Aria is a great cure for insomnia, Simoun has lots of blah blah blah blah blah whilst failing to explain its world very well and leaving you to work it out as you watch it, Fruits Basket is the new Ranma etc etc etc etc.... That doesn't mean I don't continue to like these shows. It just means it is easier for me (and, by reason of extension, everyone else) to state what they don't like as opposed to what they do.
Hell, I watched all 20 episodes of Trouble Chocolate. I defy anyone else to do that.
