5 Centimeters Per Second

by White Demon » Sat Nov 10, 2007 8:27 pm

I seem to remember a number of people on this forum earlier this year going on about how good Byousoku 5 Centimeter (5cm per Second) would be.

http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=4568 <- aniDB link in case someone doesn't know about it.

How about having this at the December OVA night?

If you need a copy, tell me and I can bring it along.

They're talking about the full version, as opposed to the first segment we screened earlier this year.

We screened the first segment? I must have been absent that OVA night.

Same night we screened Pale Cocoon and an episode of Yukikaze. Also DiGi Charat Winter Garden and Saint October, if my memory works the way it is supposed to.

Yeah, I wasn't there for Pale Cocoon. However, I did watch both Pale Cocoon and the original 5cm Per Second in my own time. Both are awesome!

*sigh* This isn't an anime you really should be showing at AJAS, it really goes 5cm per second.

I seem to remember quite a few complaints over this title on that night and how it was too slow. I take it people have changed their minds or time has covered up your memories.

Makoto Shinkai = pure win! PLAY! /khaaaan

Ajas has always been against a lot of slow titles regardless of how good they are or not. Remember, this is the club that voted for Gokusen with a 95% majority (I'm certain myself and Clint were the only 2 that didn't vote for it) based off the first episode and then they all regretted it within the next 5 episodes and it became the scourge of the playlist that year.

As long as it is wrapped in lots of things that are fast-paced beyond compare, there is no reason why it can't be shown. It is more of a "ooh.... pretty animation" experience than a slap-you-in-the-face-with-its-originality-and-mainstream-appeal experience.

Necromancy: What happens when n00bs join a forum and resurrect old, long-dead threads. Usually frowned upon on said forums by those in charge, although understandable if the n00b finds the subject interesting and wants to discuss it more, or is just clueless and fails to recognise the fact that nobody has posted in said thread in a year and/or does it for the shitzangiggles....

Leads to lots of locked threads.

Cheers.
