OSAKA — The Osaka District Court on Thursday sentenced a 65-year-old man Thursday to death for killing two women in Gifu Prefecture and Osaka in robbery-murder cases last year.

Kenji Ohashi was found guilty of breaking into the home of Misako Tsuboi, 57, in the town of Ibigawa, Gifu Prefecture, in April last year, stealing 15,000 yen in cash and strangling her. He also demanded money at knifepoint from Kiyoko Tanaka, 45, in her apartment in Osaka last year and stabbed her to death when she resisted, according to the ruling.
