by Mappy » Fri Nov 09, 2007 11:10 pm

Name the character and the show. :)

The person who guesses right has to post another mystery pic. And so on and so forth....

That pic is too small. Really strains the eyes.

I get the feeling I've seen that one before yet I don't want to remember what it was...

I didn't do these on purpose? Well all I could find in a couple of minutes were crappy jpegs.

Fine then... I'll update the picture a bit. Only a bit.

The hint now is the textures.

i didn't really care that much, it's an anime i know i haven't seen. i just don't like jpegs. stupid lossy compression.
interesting fact: now that i've done computer graphics i look at textures in a far different way to most people. i also think in the phong shading model, which causes me no end of pain

Actually I had to look up the name but I knew it was from Yu-Gi-Oh GX, can't mistake that horrid style.
I know it from cable when I frantically try to find the remote to change the channel.

Did someone mention obscure?

I don't have access to anything before this millenia. Sue me.

If you want a truly serious answer, a murloc from World of krieg handwerk. That's the only thing that came close from about an hour and a half of searching.

Hatsuki from Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibito.

Sorry Mappy, but I remember your impassioned 8.5/10 review of this series on NFOs. ;) I know the club voted it out about 5 years ago, but I watched it to the end myself. it was a bit weird and typical for h-origins but cute and a hilarious ending.

Looks like this one is going in one guess.

It has been so long since I last watched WHR that the only characters I can remember the names of are Robin and Amon. I'd have to trawl through the series again to pick this one, if the series is right.

Geez, I realyy did get you guys witht his one. Mappy got the animation style and director right, which caused Paul to get the series right. But he's wrong on the chracter though, even though he didn't give it a name.

The character is from Witch Hunter Robin. That much is correct.

I wouldn't have double checked if you didn't mention it. I also thought it wasn't a character from that show, the clothing just looked familiar.

Close enough?

Arashi's not that bad... He's probably the most masculine character in the show. You haven't seen anything until you've seen Daisuke a.k.a. Isabella.

It's quite surprising you'd make a comment like that. I thought you read a lot of shoujo manga?

Finally, I get around to guessing one.
The character is Emily (エミリー) from the anime Kaze no Shoujo Emily (風の少女エミリー) aka Emily of New Moon.

The series you suspect it may be is also wrong.

She is Himeko, a tomboy who recieves a magic ribbon from Queen Erika (of a magical world) which allows Hime-chan to become whatever she wants. She uses the ribbon to try to get close to a gentle upperclassman but she falls for bad boy Daichi instead.

K, my turn.

Sherlock Holmes from Great/Famous Detective Holmes, aka Meitantei Holmes, aka "Sherlock Hound" in dub form. A tv series directed by Miyazaki.

Or, as anidb puts it:
It was made as a joint project between Tokyo Movie Shinsha and an Italian TV station, RAI, in 1981. Hayao MIYAZAKI directed 6 episodes (3-5 and 9-11), but the production was put on hold due to a copyright dispute with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle`s estate. In 1984, after the copyright dispute was finally resolved, Tokyo Movie Shinsha decided to make more episodes of Holmes and to air it as a TV series as originally planned, with totally different staff members from the first 6 episodes.

Fine, fine. You got it, but not before I delayed your victory with a game of Solitaire.

Is it the Old Home from Haibane Renmei?

It may have been a few years since I watched Haibane Renmei but I can still remember that board they used to mark whether they were home.
I'm actually saddened that I can remember details from anime that I watched that long ago.
Next one, hopefully somebody other than Mappy managed to guess it.

plz no ikkitousen plz for the love of god. I can actually remember the whole series just cause of the fight scenes alone, let alone the endless stream of figures still being produce to this very day, like Queen's Blade and their figure/H-doujinshi collections.

Heisei Democracy would disagree to no end. I'm not siding with them, though. The Ikki figures are crap as are most of Queen's Blade. However Nix looks decent.

You're the only one who would probably find it easy, so why not guess?

The only people I know who were really into this series were yukihotaru, yourself and myself (hint, hint).

If he's deliberately thinking of delaying his answer he's going to lose his turn.

Re: Guess the Anime

by Rasberry » Tue Jan 15, 2008 1:58 pm

i think there should be a rule, for this.

A person should have 48hours if they are correct going from the time that they are told they are correct to post a picture, otherwise the floor should become open to anyone

A person posting a picture needs to be sure that they can keep the game going smoothly this would mean
a) if a person makes an attempt at guessing but is not responded to within 24 hours of weather they are correct or not then they should by default be declared the winner by default
b) if a picture makes it to 72 hours then there should be a clue to help
c) a picture up for a week is possibly a hard one, the answer should be reviled and then the floor should be open for a posting of a first come first server basis.

if a person knows that they can't keep a reasonable check of this forum, then they should just pass on their posting turn. By reasonable i mean at least once a day. Basically in a nut shell example, if you are going out over the weekend and will not get back to a computer for 2 or 3 days then it is best you pass

Rasberry has laid down the rules of this game. I will add a couple more: if you say you know what the answer is, but hold off on answering for more than 24 hours, then you are forfeit from winning. All responses shall only be attempts at guessing. Discussion shall be Mappysplit.

People have until 10.20pm on Wednesday to guess the answer to Atory's pic.
Atory should post a clue before then. It is obvious that nobody else really knows....
Jason (Pirate Man) is forfeit from answering. Even if he does, now, someone else can just copypasta his answer and they'll be declared the winner.
If nobody guesses, Atory is WINRAR and it's first come, first serve for the next pic. 8)

I don't see what you are all getting pissed off about...

I have been adding clues.
Hint 1: Pirate Man, yukihotaru and I really liked this series... For us three to like it, it must be fairly new.
Hint 2: I like "abstract" anime... If it wasn't clear I was getting at it's textural quality.

Now for a new hint:
Hint 3: Monster Cat... Can it be any more obvious now?

I haven't been able to say if anyone is incorrect because no-one has even attempted guessing.

Nope ain't gonna answer it regardless because if I post a picture of an anime it would be instantly deleted especially with my mind in the state it is now. Need MOAR Poopies.

Oh and I HAVE given you the anime, Mappy and Ryan. Its the type you don't like but I like aka Kaiji, Akagi e.g. no Moe/Soft-pron
