As pretty as that artwork looks, neither the description nor the studio responsible fill me with any confidence whatsoever.

GONZO screw up less when they are the original source of a story. This is mainly because you don't get any comparison to be able to see where they went wrong. I expect The Five Killers will start off brilliantly and then lose the plot at the end, probably with something absurd.

"Being Gonzoed" should enter anime lingo as "screwing something up from your own lack of innate talent". Getting near the end of Solty Rei, now, and Gankutsuou still looks like the only Gonzo series where everything holds together right to the end....

Unless you compare it against the original work. I don't remember vampires in space being in The Count of Monte Cristo.

That's because it's Gankutsuou, not TCoMC. 8)

Anyways.... Gonzo is still doing bog-standard shows. Check: http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?sh ... e&aid=5273
And this looks dangerously like Super Tree Boy versus the Walking Volcano the TV Series: http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?sh ... e&aid=5503

Of course, we should forgive them for Bokurano, I suppose. 8)

Ryan really needs to watch more of Gankutsuou. So what if he's an alien vampire (he's not actually a vampire)? Same story, different location.

I have no desire to end up like your current avatar.
