Kaiji Creator Donates 30 Million Yen to Quake Victims

by Last Exile » Mon Apr 04, 2011 2:21 pm

Manga creator Nobuyuki Fukumoto (Akagi, Kaiji) donated 30 million yen (about US$360,000) to Kodansha's relief fund for victims of March 11's Great Eastern Japan Earthquake (Higashi Nihon Daishinsai) disaster.

Fukumoto also posted an illustration on Friday to offer his suport to the victims and volunteers on the official website for Kodansha's Young Magazine. The drawing features the titular Kaiji manga protagonist telling the Japanese not to give up.

Now there is a true champ. You'd figure Rumiko Takahashi and/or Miyazaki could afford to show benevolence. Yet Fukumoto is the one.
Disgusting...
