Did we watch Bakemonogatari?

by mbarron » Thu Dec 31, 2009 2:51 pm

Someone asked me for this, Bakemonogatari.

Did we watch it? Was it any good?

Or was it one of those cancelled shows, due to the industry finances?

Put it this way, Barron....

Mappy hates it. It gave him headaches.
Greg hates it. It made him more anti-SHAFT.
White hates it. It made his hangover almost fatal.
I hate it. It gives me Brooklyn Rage times Over 9000. It also ranks #2 on my Most Despised Series Ever list.

Yes, it's popular. But it is one of the most arrogant, self-gratifying, underfunded and half-hearted things ever made. Plus it rotated the female tsundere/minderjährigen mädchen every three episodes.

Some like it and I guess I can understand why. But we discussed this one months ago. We're not playing it.

It is your guy with a past meets troubled girl of the week show, just with animation that makes your eyes bleed. Sure, it has fairly snappy dialogue, but it is as shallow and as empty as your standard harem fare.

Many people love it, but I've seen too much to be fooled by animation style and dialogue.

The dvd version will probably be to die for, which just makes me hate Shaft more for serving up dessicated pferdescheiße on tv.

Lies, I don't hate it. My brain just melts when trying to watch it at 2am.
