AVCon 2010 - we need your input!

by boryha » Sun Nov 22, 2009 1:27 am

Greetings all,

Ryan's given the A-OK to post this, hopefully this is the right board.

AVCon is looking for anime input from AJAS since you guys know what's hot, what's not, and all in between.

What should AVCon 2010 screen? If you would like to give some input if you could supply details such as title, a synopsis or a link to a synopsis, rating (if available) and if you are very enthused and know the information who holds the distributor rights to the title (so if it is licensed in Australia, is it Madman? If it's not available here, who owns it?).

Feel free to reply here, or email myself at [email protected] or Kendelle Hill (Screenings Coordinator) at [email protected]

Got any questions? Feel free to PM me, or email me, or bug me on Facebook.

Regards,
Debbie Kaminski
Vice Convenor AVCon 2010

(I'm the one with the purple stripes in her hair who turns up to AJAS when time permits, so most of you would have at least seen me :)

It’s commonly known when you look north in Japan East is to your left. Please don’t try to correct that sentence. It lasts only for a second but I wouldn’t expect a mistake like that.

Anyone who was watched those or knows Mappy/Stockman will know that Stockman's sarcasm just then was Over 9000.

Except that Jungle wa Itsumo Hare nocchi Guu is, you know, hilarious. Well, clearly you don't know that otherwise you wouldn't have made that post.

Anyway, are you sure that having Geass on for a third time is a particularly good idea?

There were people who spoke to me after this year's AvCon and said they were going to watch more anime after seeing Code Geass during the screening sessions. *shrug* As hard as it may be to believe, still plenty of anime fans that haven't even heard of Code Geass. It's also a title that is extremely potent for people trying out anime for the first time and making them want to continue exploring anime. But Hans has a point - if it's played at all, it should be R2.

As for Garry, obvious troll is obvious troll. We all know what he's really trying to say.

Yeah, I agree with his suggestion to put Bottle Fairy on repeat.

I'm sure people of this generation deserve a dose of Shrine of the Morning Mist.

Garry, may I remind you what you have for your opinion should not dictate everybody else's. The list I gave is from my own private collection, trimmed so that only shows to which would be suitable to screen to the general public are on it (I'll also add a few more titles like Piano and stuff like that). That and they politley asked me to give them this list :)

I will make a list when time permits. Which isn't right now, as someone else wants to use the pc.

So long as it's titles which are licenced somewhere, they're not accepting dubious sources this year.

Since about 80% of AVCON attendees is made up of morons who think Naruto is the best possible anime EVER, I vote you play the most disturbing but legal stuff you can. That'll learn 'em!
