A short series does get chewed up in a mere three months, after all.
Although I don’t know about the directions at 4:51.
It’s commonly known when you look north in Japan East is to your left. Please don’t try to correct that sentence. It lasts only for a second but I wouldn’t expect a mistake like that.

I'm glad someone actually likes this enough to say so.

Quicker than it should have been. The second half wasn't exactly super special.

I do find it amusing how they went to the effort of hiring the original cast, then made them perform rather blandly for no adequately explained reason.

What is replacing Chaos;Head?

I've already seen all of Kannagi so I will withhold my vote and see what the ignorant masses think of it, and I'll be voting Eden of the East on with rapidity. :) Epic tier OP is epic tier.

You should replace it with Queen's Blade, something with massive amounts of quality and insults almost every anime fan on Earth :D.

No point in voting off Eden of the East, only 11 episodes anyways.

Ok, before anyone gets hyped up, the show that IS replacing Chaos Head is Gai-Rei-Zero (this was agreed upon by AJAS management when we commenced Chaos Head).

Secondly, should Kannagi fail this week (as is starting to look increasingly likely), I do have a series to replace it, which has in fact been requested to be shown :)

Thirdly, as I have mentioned before, the vote is for Gurren Lagaan and Xam'd's replacements. This will constitute of a list of 10 or 12 series, divided into 2 groups (one for each playlist slot). Whilst I'm at it, there is also another reason why I'm holding this vote.....

It's still not quite King Gainer Tier, though.

The best thing about Basquash is that it's not Aquarion.

Kawamori really needs to stop trying to direct things. His scenarios (druggy as they are) and mechanical designs are always nice, but the last half-decent directing job of his was what, Macross 7? It's a shame because he always seems to be able to pull in alarming amounts of funding and awesome music these days, then wastes it all going nowhere.

No, I'm certainly not bitter about Macross Frontier's sheer blandness. Not at all.

Strange, I thought the whole point of 99.9% of mecha shows was to be bland and to have females that would heavily feature in the doujinshi of the more prominent artists.

That would be true if there were shows besides Gundam, Der Krieg, Code Geass and Macross Frontier (and of course, Macross shows have always been about the combination of music, mecha and LOVE TRIANGLE, meaning that it's not exactly pure mecha anyway) which actually had porn of them. Because last I checked, four shows doesn't count as 99.9% of the genre. Just about the only Godannar doujin was the one Takahiro Kimura drew to get a bit of extra funding for the second season (as well as a chuckle). Gravion had all of 5 fanworks tops. Dancouga Nova has a whopping zero. The Reideen remake has nothing. GaoGaiGar, probably one of the better selling super robot shows in the past decade has about ten. Idolm@aster Xenoglossia doesn't count since it was derived from a simulation which had nothing to do with mecha. Rideback doesn't have much stuff either. And as for anything pre-Yuusha, you'll get a grand total of one doujin per show if you're lucky.

If you can provide me with ample material of Dougram, VOTOMS, Dragonar, SPT Layzner, Goshogun or hell, even Mazinger then I would be likely to agree, but otherwise don't claim 99.9% of mecha shows are about females featuring heavily in the doujinshi of more prominent artists.

Because, as we know, mecha shows are traditionally about selling toys. Throwing bland monsters of the week to showcase new special moves in the next rendition of the toy was key. Or, in the case of Gundam, introducing new mobile suits in order for Bandai to hure out their model kits. Well, this part is what should happen, but the damn elevens only ever buy Zakus, RX-78-2 Gundams and Strikes, so they continue to avoid releasing a HGUC Barzam.

Even then, super robot shows haven't been able to sell toys or indeed rate since what, Goldran? All the good mecha shows since GGG have mostly been remakes or reimaginings of older works (Mazinkaiser, Getter OVAs, Koutetsushin Jeeg, Gaiking: Legend of Daiku Maryu) made out of love with little regard for actual profitability. You're entitled to not like those, and plenty of artists don't. Which is why we don't get any good porn of them.

zu lange nicht gelesen GIANT ROBOTS ARE SERIOUS BUSINESS

Also, obligatory mention of Bokurano.

I really should have hinted more that I was being sarcastic when I said that. I certainly wasn't slamming you for liking mecha series or what they contain. But I was serious that for most genres these days, there are too many characters created to serve that purpose specifically and I'm getting blood sick of it. My statement was aimed at the industry and to reflect my current jaded view of it. It was not directed at you, Hans. Apologies for not implicating my sarcasm and for gettting you riled up.

No offense taken. I've been itching to go on a big ol' rant about the genre for a while. The issue of bland moemoe characters is hardly in one genre, but something that's plaguing the medium as a whole at the moment. Alas, we'll only really start getting competent women when both the ever so lonely fans tire of finding dutiful women to be their precious waifus, and when Japanese culture as a whole starts to really throw out the misogynist viewpoint.

In other words, moemoe is here to stay.
