Best Yiros in the country, which isn't hard since "Yiros" doesn't exist outside SA (it would be more correctly called souvlaki everywhere else). 8)

There are at least 2 all girl's schools that I know of, ones in the CBD and the others on the 224; so yes, plenty of minderjährigen mädchen's.

Don't ask how I know this. I just do >.>

Adelaide is the best just because it is. How many other states have two massive steel balls as an icon? let's just ignore them other big pineapples and bananas.

More like Jean-Luc Picard.

But no, O-bahn is pretty awesome. IMO they should put more of those in than trams but that's a whole other can of worms. Plus it's not so small you can watch the dead bushes rolling around, but small enough that the traffic isn't THAT bad yet and the pollution hasn't turned the sky all that orange.

Nice size IMO.

Do the police automatically show up at your house every time a small girl goes missing in this city?

I don't think you need bother, the police probably have him under constant surveillance anyway.

I know several people (all old-sage pensioners) who go around collecting cans ect for recycling. It makes for a small but legitimate second income and gives 'em something to pass the time. :D

5c deposit is for all of South Australia.

Only in Adelaide is it possible to reach everything in the CBD by walking without killing yourself and actually find stuff interesting.

Doesn't mean they're worth going to. My rounds for a night are PJs, The Elephant, London Tavern, UniBar (lols FTW), Felaffal House (classic!), might hit some other places for fun or adventure! (ARGH! There be gold on that plot o' land)

But yeah, I can walk home to town in 20 minutes, do it because my friend is cheap... or probably I'm cheap, cabs and weekends do not mix. $15 for 1km, my ass!

I'd love to hit more, but they're not worth it! My god, Adelaide blows for good clubs/pubs, plus the good ones are spaced apart too much :( But the drinks are cheap... and less said about a few of the girls the better.

The people on Rundle Street are fatalistic and dressed like crap, the ones up Hindley Street aren't wearing enough. Least there's a decent balance during Adelaide Uni lectures.

Reminds me, it should be tank top season very soon.

Central Market.

Quite apart from the accessability of the market, which is a definite plus on similar permanent market venues interstate, it is not overly large and thus you don't have to spend days traipsing from one end of the thing to the other. (Though I wish some of the produce was up to scratch.... I remember one time one of the stalls selling restaurant-grade onions. The things were so big that just one of them lasted about four meals. I haven't seen them that big since....)

Mind you, I did like the Sydney Fish Markets when I was there last.... Largest sushi platters on sale that I've ever seen. Though that was seven years ago, now....

What would one describe as the best eateries and restaurants in the city, and I mean across the metropolitan region?

And what haunts have you visited to find the best happy juice (and what would your favourite poison be)?

Hilton's pretty damn good. Chong Leuw is a great guy, met him and my mum is a good friend of his family. There's a little Asian place in the arcade off Pulteney Street called Peking Corner, great food for low price. There's a very good Vietnamese soup place in the Food Courts at the Central Markets. I once had a damn nice Indian meal at the Stamford. Couple of nice Italian places in North Adelaide. Used to be a great Thai place on the south side of town. Teppanyaki on Glen Osmond Road is a very nice Japnese experience, having it made right in front of you, plus the sake was awesome. Think there's a Chinese place on the western end of Gouger Street, they made these spring onion pancakes that were the greatest. There's also another Chinese place in the Central Market area that pretty much serve everything with chopsticks only, meeting the less is more idealogy, so that you enjoyed their good food over a longer time.

As for the alcohol, semillon or frontingac for wines. Sake's subtlety is delightful. Baileys and Southern Comfort are okay as well. But my dad was an alcoholic so I rarely drink anything at all.

I just found out that 6 weeks ago, a wine law from 1984 is now being enforced nationwide. One that restricts wine makers to only being allowed to send a maximum of 99 litres of wine overseas per week.

WTF?! We're trying to export and show off our good produce and a dumbarse law like that is now enforced?!

The law is likely to last about as long as weed at a bogan convention.

Australian wines are, sadly, excellent in VOLUME of taste, but lacking the subtlety of regional mixture and recipe variations like many of those grown overseas (mostly in Europe). It'll come with time.

If Steven Guy (the person responsible for enforcing this law) has his way, not gonna happen. Some guy from Boston wanted to buy $220,000 US worth of Clarendon Valley wines but thanks to that law, he can't.

Haighs originated in SA, but I doubt much of their product (and ownership) does anymore.

Then there is Iced Coffee (of the Farmers Union variety), which only South Australians could make drinkable. Once. Now, like everything else, it is made interstate and tastes like liquid weetbix. 8)

Amazingly enough, iced coffe make South Australia a unique economy in the world. We have the only economy where Coca Cola's nearest competitor isn't Pepsi but is Farmer's Union Iced Coffee.

I heard rumours that FUIC outsells Coke in SA and SA alone. 8)
Also, FUIC is produced right here in Salisbury (among other places interstate), I've driven past the factory on numrous occasions. :P

I tend to drink Classic Iced Coffee now. The taste is better.... more coffee, less sugar. And less flavour of liquid weetbix. 8)

I just get the Bickfords mix of cordial and put a miniscule amount in 2 litres of water or small amount of their coffee mix in A2 milk.

Nothing outsells Coke. Every Woolworths Supermarket has Coke as it's #1 selling line. Just think of how many restaurants sell Coke but not FUIC.

Coke is such a recognisable brand that it doesn't even need advertising. People equate cola with Coke almost automatically these days. And the brand logo is the second most recognisable after the Golden Retches.... I mean Arches.... 8)

FUIC, though, is definitely an SA thing. And you'd understand why if you tried brands interstate. 8)

On Ice-Coffee i've got 4 cents here ... (2x2 cents) ...

1. I kept buying Oaks IC and its varieties (hey i'd save between 40-60 cents each)
2. In 2004 during a USASA promo event ; some interstate rival distributed samples of an IC brand they were peddling . If I remember correctly it was from NSW . Anyways ... the taste test result

What coffee ?
What milk ? and finally
What sugar ?

It was like trying to drink chilled water with cold-added tea leaves and post diabetes level of sugar ... none

It sucked M4J0R ..
I must feel proud about the things I choose ...,

Be it Ero-games , doujinshi , or clothes ; its all the SAME !

I'm with Mappy, I prefer Classic over FUIC.

Just remember the state motto when it comes to noob interstae brands and our superior state brands:

'There are some things only South Australians get.' :)

Btw, Frog Cakes rule. That was made a permanent state icon a couple fo years ago from memory.

Frog cakes are so sweet just looking at them gives me diabetes and kiney failure. I don't think I've had one since I was 10. That was 1979, for anyone who wants to ask. 8)

Pie floaters are a vile idea. They're not really something we should be holding up with pride. Then again, curry pie floaters.... 8)

Clipsal 500 always provides good entertainment. There's always bound to be some major stacks at Turn 10.

For a street race, yes. Bathurst has faster.

The Chase is easily the fastest on the V8 Supercar calendar. So it is a good thing they don't have a wall on the immediate outside of the corner as they do at Turn 8 in Adelaide. As Jason Richards will tell you.
