from November 4th 9:30Pm our time we can order any Madman anime title at $10 each! that is everything except pre-orders

http://www.madman.com.au/actions/catalo ... &sortKey=3

and no excuses you can send money order or b-pay and postage is a flat $4

the animes are charged at $10 per disc (no addition cost for collectors boxes!) in other words the less discs in a series the cheaper it is...

so now with the chance to buy any anime avaliable what will you buy?

There isn't really anything in their back catalogue that interests me that I don't already own or is cheaper in shinTokyo at the moment (namely Trigun).

Resident tank enthusiast. See me for racist and opinionated storytelling and vaguely accurate historical tank warfare-themed rants.

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one experiencing difficulties. I think Madman serious underestimated to number of people that would log on.

All I want to get is the Azumanga box set. What does it do? adds it to the shooping basket not once, but three times, one of which was at full price! Try to remove offending items and it empties the thing completely.

For those not on the Madman mailing list.
Madman Mailing List wrote:Hi All,

Thank you to the overwhelming number of people who shopped in Madman's recent "$10 per disc 10th Anniversary Sale"!

In fact, the response was so overwhelming that our servers struggled with the load, and as a result many people were unable to make their desired purchases.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our valued fans and customers who missed out, and as such we are offering you a brief window of opportunity to actually complete your lost orders! Just follow these steps:

1. Point your web browser to http://www.madman.com.au/birthdaySale.jsp to activate our special discount pricing

2. Shop around the site, add items to your cart and proceed to the checkout as normal

If you follow the above link and don't see our special pricing, you can activate the discount using the coupon code 'MAD10BDS' on your shopping cart page.

Discounted orders will be accepted until midnight, Thursday 9th November 2006. We expect the servers may also be quite busy during some of this time, so if you are unsuccessful, please try back later.

Please note, November new release titles and preorders are excluded from this offer. No backorders will be accepted for out of stock items. The offer only applies to Madman DVD titles (including Madman DVD box-sets.)

Any enquiries sent regarding orders or payments will be attended to from Wednesday 8th November (Tuesday is a Public Holiday in Victoria). Orders will be dispatched starting Wednesday 15th November and should be completed within 10 days from this date. If you have any further concerns, you may contact our customer service at [email protected].

Once again we apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

If you are aware of any other Madman customers who missed out on the sale because of technical difficulties, please feel free to share this email with them.

Sincerely,

The Madman Team

Has anybody actually managed to receive their order yet?
A fortnight after ordering and mine is still waiting to be shipped and all it consists of it the Azumanga Daioh box set..

"Awaiting despatch" for 5 Days now

Like how hard is it to put it in a box and then put it on the back of a truck. :?

But If I order my stuff at madmans regular price my order would have cost me $1,373.15 before shipping. But its only going to cost $500 + $7.28 Shipping 8)

I guess I can wait ANOTHER week.

They just better not take as long as my 100 DL DVD+R's are taking :)

What about Rasberry's order? That was so big that I'd almost put money on there being items missing when it does finally arrive....

I think they'll have to put a logistics guy on it full-time just to get his order or the door. :D

i have not received mine

in the 2nd chance offer i ordered the missing 2 volumes of what went missing... also i ordered all the Area 88 dvds...
______________________

received an e-mail.... the FMP box set was removed from the order due to it being $10 and not $70, they gave me a link to the proper FMP boxset price except it was after the sale hence higher price... on top of that they said that i have $10 credit towards my next order, except they don't tell me how to redeem the $10 since they don't refund money if paid by b-pay.... they give credit... have to send off a second e-mail since my first was a week ago and i never received a reply.

in short not happy bout the FMP, they advertised and i paid therefore i should receive..... and then told that i don't get the $10 back, it will be credited towards my next order, except they don't tell me how to redeem the $10....

Rasberry, threaten to call the ACCC. It is illegal under the Trade Practices act and Australian common law for them to advertise a product and then refuse to sell it to you once you accept their offer. The took your cash, now they have to pony up the goods.

Dammit, I better be able to find a copy of this clause otherwise it's validity is seriously compromised.

well what was said in that quote box...
Sale on November 4-5th

monday 20th(some 17th)= this week orders start processing ( took them 15 days to start? :x )

shipping process takes 5-10 working days. working week =5 days

australia post takes 2-3 days on top of that day 1 = sort day 2 = transit day 3 = arrives to me

now last order dispatched Friday 1st December and arrives to the last person hopefully by 5th December for em..... total wait for the person 1 whole month after sale

First person to receive them then would be some victorian who managed to get done on the 17th's small lucky few to get processed and that means that they will receive them tommorrow?

This whole thing has been an organisational and pr disaster for Madman. They had big plus points for doing it in the first place, but the minuses have just been compounding ever since. I doubt they ever expected the influx of orders that they got in the end....

I just sent off my first email to Madman

Myself wrote:My first order was: MA##### (Which BTW took 1.5 Hours to complete because of the server)
And My second was: MA#####

Both have been "Awaiting despatch" for over a week. While my mother who ordered after me (even my second order) has already received her's.

Shipping even from the US maximum take a week( 7 Days ). But from the looks of this it has not even been shipped.

Orders should be shipped in the order they were invoiced. It has now been 20 days since I placed my order payment has already been taken over 2 weeks ago and still no goods.

People In my local anime club have even had items pulled from their orders why the full amount has been billed.
For a lot of people this is going to go down as the birthday of pain and suffering.

Disgruntled Regards.

You should be demanding they backorder the items that were removed from you order.

BTW it only takes 2/3 days to ship by road from QLD to Perth.

From Melbourne I've only had stuff shipped within usually 24 hours.

Rasberry, you should email Madman informing them to send a money order for the amount owed to you. Money Order not check, checks can cost you money.

Seriously, they are only pissing off their target market, here. How many people are going to have "customer loyalty" to them after this? I'm starting to believe they didn't have half the things they'd put up for sale....

i think half of it is put aside befrore the sale. Forinstance, some boxsets were out of stock minutes before the sale, and just after the next day were in stock...

.... Now they did have most things, what did you miss out on? But of course bad quantities :)

It's definitely obvious all they wanted to do was clear out a warehouse filling up with anime dvds people thought were overpriced.

I thought it was all the Ikkitousen DVDs they couldn't give away 2-3 years ago at the Quiz Night at AvCon. God, that prize just made me laugh. Here's all the Ikkitousen DVDs we couldn't sell because no one would buy them. ;)

I don't think we will ever see people paying for Ikkitousen DVDs no matter how cheap they get.

That and the Galaxy Angel dvds. This year it was the copious collections of TNT dvds.... Whilst I don't have anything in particular against either Tokyo Underground or Daphne in the Brilliant Blue, I can't say I'd be leaping out of my skin the purchase them, either. And having them as prizes in the various competitions was almost.... I dunno, it made the Ikkitousen dvds look ordinary by comparison, and not in a good way.

Well its been 9 Days since Madman declared its would only be 5-10 Days until every thing was shipped.... Um Yeah right!

Mine are still "Awaiting despatch" :wallbash: .

Madman has had my money for 20 days now.
With no products shipped or ANY reply at all.

Some one in at Madman is going to be getting a VERY bad phone call tomorrow. :x

Please include in your phone call abuse and disappointment from me as well. I got my confirmation email at 1:22am, probably making me one few people that actually managed to get their order completed in the first three and a half hours.
It's become a race for me to see what comes first, my new portable drive through Tim or my order from Madman. Pity is I didn't really want this to be a race.
Tim will probably win, Australia Post is really unreliable at getting mail to my place in the time they promise. My local library is a two minute walk away and the post office is only 50m away from it yet it takes two days for letters to make it here.

I might be wrong, but could it be the larger orders like you, Tim and White rare being delayed while the smaller orders like White Demon's are getting relatively quick responses. Not that I'm making excuses for them but when I mentioned it to Connell the other day, that was his guess.

That theory fails so badly when you consider that my order consists of the Azumanga Daioh box set and only the Azumanga Daioh box set. Not individual volumes, the box set. One Item. Only. One. Item.

My thinkings of this are...

Madman has this realy big hat, with all the order numbers in it. The order numbers are pulled from the hat by monkeys, the problems is bananas are expensive and Madman are not feeding them enough so they are attacking all that come near the hat with faeces and what not.

I'm also guessing some of the monkeys also setup their web server :D

They're also cheaper as they don't eat as much. They're probably hanging from the ceiling of the Madman offices right now, looking down on the hat and considering whether they should pull a name from it now or this time tomorrow after they've had their little nap.

Still waiting to get mine. They have the right address in their system, I have no idea what's taking so long but the safety of their stand at next years AVCon is starting to become doubtful.

I think their screen at that stall playing dubbed versions put the stall in enough danger already. This will only help to attract flash grenades.

White Phosphorous grenades are much more fun.
Does Madman not know anything about it's target market? It plays dubs amongst a crowd that prefers subs, pushes anime we don't really like as major lines and has no idea what the effect of charging a third of the normal price is going to do to sales.

Madman just show the arrogance of a company that has a near-monopoly in the domestic market.

Well, its not like TNT are giving them anything to worry about.

I somehow doubt the original topic of Mendes's thread is still being discussed, anymore. 8)

You'd have to change the title of this thread to allow it to go on for 3 years.

:wow: Yay my second/final order showed up like an hour ago.:wow:
:wow::wow::wow::wow::wow::wow::wow::wow::wow:

I guess I won't have to ring Madman now :D

But the funny thing is the Website still says "Awaiting despatch" for both of my orders. :?
May be I should ring then and go "Where the hell are my orders! Your website says they still have not be shipped!" just for fun that is 8)

Just got a parcel notification from Australia Post, it would appear that Tim lost the race.
