Blood+

by Mappy » Sun Oct 22, 2006 1:37 am

I think I've made this suggestion before, but considering how long Blood+ is, and how far we have to go, would it not be a good idea to get to the end of the current story arc and then put it to the vote to see if people want to go all the way to the end?

With a suggestion of what would replace it if they say nay, of course.

I'd suggest Rozen Maiden to replace it if it gets the axe. 8)

That's neither a yes or a no to the suggestion. Stay on target, stay on target. 8)

The intention was to read as: I don't have an opinion either way on wether or it gets deleted or not; however should that be the case I have this suggestion... 8)

I don't remember playing GTO in full working too well from memory. In ended up being an excuse to rock up a bit late. Full Metal Alchemist was consistent enough throughout to be worth seeing through. Availability and how many have seen it all is the factor in the end. Put it to a vote and see what they think.

According to AJAS history , we've done longer animes . So for the issue of Blood+ what gives ?
I must feel proud about the things I choose ...,

Be it Ero-games , doujinshi , or clothes ; its all the SAME !

I think in the case of Alchemist, some people weren't able to get it all and it was a series good/consistent throughout that people could watch the whole way through. GTO was more of a case where we were really struggling to find anything to replace the slot and we decided to play the waiting game. Then since we got so close to the end, we decided to se it through. Kenshin was before my time so no idea why that one was seen through, Mappy should be able to elaborate on that one.

I think in the current state, we have a decentnumber of titles we have ready to go onto the playlist for once. 2006 has been a positive year and hopefully the next couple of years will continue the trend. We tend to replace a series with something of a similar genre.

Doesn't Blood+ have both?

There are plenty of great titles lined up for the rest of this year and next that's for sure. I suggest Night Head Genesis as a replacement if Blood+ gets cut short and if we see it all the way through I would suggest Death Note.

A brief history of long shows at early AJAS:

Rurouni Kenshin - we never actually finished this show. We just got up to the Christian arc in season 3 and started again. That's 60+ episodes shown twice.

Slayers - All three seasons were played over a number of years. But as each season is, in essence, a different story, we could have large gaps in between and not really care much.

Escaflowne - not a long show per se (26 episodes) but we played it three times. 8)

Irresponsible Captain Tylor - see Escaflowne. 8)

Patlabor - The tapes were taken out of our possession when then club president Brad Rheinheimer flounced off, tired of running things for little positive benefit to himself. We managed to get 22 episodes in.

Fushigi Yuugi - Played through complete one time around (52 episodes), plus the first oav series. We managed to get 28 episodes into a repeat.

Marmalade Boy - this series is 76 episodes plus movie. We made 25 before people grew tired of it.

Card Captor Sakura - this is 70 episodes long plus 2 movies. We managed to get up to where I ran out of episodes on VHS (27). A brief restart somewhere in the 30's was trashed because of the poor quality of the sound.

I'm sure there were others, but my memory has come to a screeching halt. 8)

There is always the possibility that, even if we agree to this idea, Blood+ won't get shafted from the playlist. I'm not saying that I think this show is good or bad (I don't personally dislike it) but there is so much out there ready to go that is good that we have this long show clogging up the system....

And there are ways for people to get to see the rest....

So what is the current view on this anime by the playlist guys?

Decent fansubs are about to be lacking and then there's the licencing issue, although we started screening it before it was licenced.

Just stay ahead of them, it's worked for a dozen years.

We have enough to keep screening for the rest of the AJAS 2006 season.

Sorry to rain on you Ryan but I think that statement doesn't count . After all its about 10 weeks until season ends anyway and at this point almost any filler would do .

It is more a matter of our running out of decent subs than subs per se.

Actually, I think you'll find most people would consider them indecent.
