15 Years of Ajas, what to do?

by Rasberry » Tue May 06, 2008 12:07 am

I guess this deserves a new topic, 15 years is not something to just sneeze at, i think wii need something special to happen, even if it is just a once off change to our eating plans, something is better than nothing.

thinking of ideas i think we should have a brain storm!

one idea that i have is to hold it on the OAV night in June or July and start at a nearby pub such as PJs for a meal at 5.30 or 6.00pm and start normal screenings at 7.00 or 7.30 or possibly just a movie or something, mabee even an older movie scoring high ratings in AJAS in the past may be on the cards. Excel saga is one of the most recognizable achieving series in AJAS so i may even recommend Puni Puni Poemy.

Having not set foot in a pub in over a decade one struggles to recall the rules regarding underageb&'s in such venues. Are they allowed on the premises so long as they aren't fed alcohol or are they forbidden outright? Because I know at least one of our members is underageb&.

Alternatively I could bring a /cake/ for everyone to share... :)

if we do it in first week of July, we could use it as an additional excuse to celebrate my birthday :whistling:

And I'd be 18 then, bonus. :)

In most pubs under 18s are allowed except between Midnight and 6am, though rules do vary in some venues.

Yes and most pubs allow under ages as long as its just a meal and a soft drink that theyre really there for, until certain times of course as rasp mentioned.

Hows this. For AJAS's 15th birthday we play anime that was popular 15 years ago.

Instead of using the projector we play them on a VCR hooked up to a TV parked in the front of the lecture theater. I'm sure Mappy can produce 3:15 worth of VHS tapes for us. :D

It's ironic that you suggest that, because I have a copy of the movie AJAS first played.

It might be nice to do for a laugh, and also to let me and the other newfags experience what it was like back in ye olde days before the projector.

I still have those Gunsmith Cats tapes by the way...

It's the 15th of June that AJAS turns 15, btw. I should know, I was there in 1993.

Maybe we should play the two things we played then.

No, we should. Whilst we're at it, why not make it a full-on "retro session".

Suggestion - play an episode of series that were voted #1 by AJAS for their year?

Say....

Paranoia Agent 10
Azumanga Daioh 7
Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu 2
Genshiken (the one where they all get drunk)
Cowboy Bebop (take your pick)
Trigun (one of the earlier episodes)
Rurouni Kenshin - Reminiscence
Disgusting...

Most of them we have all seen though.

I'm totally for a retro OVA/Movie night.

Cake would be most appropriate , i'd suggest pizza but that would be cliche .

Did we do anything about this last month?

We could celebrate by boycotting AVCon.

Not that I'm aware of. We can still do something if people want to....

Don't you want to see AVCon fall to pieces, firsthand? it is one of the few joys one gets from attending, each year. 8)
