Reading some of the replies to this article says that it hasn't really lost all of its "otakuness". It is actually changing in ways that would make it more "otaku-friendly". Which isn't necessarily a good thing. :wink:

Akihabara is still a very Schadenfreude place, as Welcome to the NHK displays all too well.

Exactly how does Akihabara make you feel malicious glee?
Also, there is a point where it seems like a word is used in a fad like status and tempts me to use another word filter.

Unless the Google or Yahoo bots start trawling the forum, we aren't going to see many hits from this word. 8)

I wish there was a Japanese word for the s-freude, though. We could quote it to our wee-a-boo content, then. :wink:
