Alright then, let's talk about a certain bundle of hotblooded awesome whose premiere consisted almost entirely of things blowing up.

Yay for excessive foreshadowing.
Although I don’t know about the directions at 4:51.
It’s commonly known when you look north in Japan East is to your left. Please don’t try to correct that sentence. It lasts only for a second but I wouldn’t expect a mistake like that.

Shangri-La episode 1 has aired. And I have to say...there is a very positive consensus on this so far. Within the multi-layered madhouse of Suki, the staticness of NFOs, the questionable intellect of ANN - the verdict so far is that this is the series to watch. If even Casey Brienza and Carl Kilminger have been convinced to abadnon their scathing acidic wit and be positive about a series...there has to be something to it. Although Carlo Santos stole the show with 'Oh Gonzo! You fell off the stock market and messed up Saki, but you somehow managed to funnel enough funds into this beauty!'

C'mon, it's a series with a super-awesome looking chick with Range Murata's character desgins of win taking on tyrannical governments with a boomerang that blows up anything in its path! :wow: That has got to be win!

Although full judgement is still to be passed, my hope for Shangri-La being the big series of the April crop is so far coming to fruition.

AniDB wrote:- The DBZ TV series is receiving an extensive "refresh" for Japanese television airing
- This is a celebration of the 20th anniversary of DBZ
- While based on the original animation production, it is being updated with new technology
- This includes extending the frames for formatting on an HD 16:9 display (note: not cropping the image)
- The original Japanese cast is re-grouping to re-voice the show (where available, and unfortunately not including those that have passed on, such as Hirotaka Suzuoki [Tenshinhan])
- Sound effects are being updated
- Unlike the general show, the OPs and EDs are being completely redone
- While not in the above announcement, other reports are noting that the number of episodes is being reduced from 291 to approximately 100

New content:
- A brief look at the last moments of Bardock and Planet Vegeta
- An overview of young Goku's growing up years (Dragonball, the pre-Z period) up until his triumph over Piccolo at the Tenkaichi-Budokai.
- The all-too-brief and yet still somewhat triumphant return of FARMER WITH A SHOTGUN!

And sadly (although that really all depends on how you look at things...)
- Goku's winky has disappeared!

That's right, through the miracle of "we're just not gonna draw it anymore", Li'l Goku is no longer going to be allowed to show off "Even Littler Goku" on TV. But don't worry, they won't do anything so blatant as to digitize tighty-whiteys on him.

- The story will be developed speedily! -- "Kai" starts from the invasion of the Saiyans. This version will be re-edited to hew more closely to Akira Toriyama's original story, so the story's development will progress all the faster!
- The opening and ending songs will be completely renewed!! -- The opening and ending songs will together be made anew! Furthermore, in "Kai", the background music will be newly recorded. Let's enjoy "Kai", where even the music has been powered up!!
- Through digital processing, the image will be made vibrant!! -- All the grime, damage and noise remaining on the "Z" film will be removed! In HD, the image will be even clearer. We've carefully made the ultra-powerful "Kai" world even more impressive!
- An all-star voice cast will record the lines anew!! -- The original main cast, centered around Masako Nozawa as Son Goku, will reunite, yo. They'll breathe life into the characters again, to support their appeal!!

I first got into naruto with the manga's. I was a bit skeptical at first and refused to watch the anime.... but after watching a few eps i thought it was alright...
I just always go through with what i finish. It took me almost 6 months to watch over 500 eps of naruto.
I just thought i would finish it off...

1. Nipples that fire acid.
2. Someone wetting themselves every 5 minutes - and you're forced to see it...
3. Deus ex machina and every possible conversation and plot point.
4. A lot of pointless nudity.
5. The entire ANN review panel, with the excpetion of Theron Martin, wanted to kill themselves.

I gave it 6/100 because.... The girls look nice.
Collect the merch. That's about all one should get out of Queen's Blade.

To some here, these would be selling points. They shouldn't believe these things to be good in the context of this show. Queen's Blade is an abomination above and beyond these aspects.

I like the fact that Mendes originally had hopes for this show. Everyone else knew it would be shite.

Still have to see it myself to see how truly bad it is.

Edit: Thanks. That warning taking is necessary. I'm glad I clicked it at home rather than in public...

Yeah, that pink-haired 'thing' is... /khaaaan

So that's a fiasco, but that's probably the whole point/catch. Ristorante Paradiso has very dodgy art and hardly established its story. And FMA 2 inspired some very angry, vengeful responses over the Net with its weak art, mangling of Ed and Al. I've seen mainly bad opinions about it so far.

*sigh* I'm down from 5 hopefuls to 2 already....Hopefully when Higashi no Eden broadcasts in the next 3 hours, we can have something to look forward to.

I won't mention any spoilers, however I do believe the naked guy is, how would you say....."hung like a horse"....

Oh, and very good american engrish was used throughout the episode....it's great when they do it right :D

The OP was great, very in-your-face kind of thing. Same with the ED, I loved how they did it all with paper cutouts (must have taken them a long time to do, since it looks like they went through about 5000 A4 sheets....)

My score: 98.5/100

Proof you should always listen to old Uncle Mappy. 8)

I'm not against fanservice. It can be good for a laugh, most of the time. And is aesthetically pleasing to my tragically male eyes. But Queen's Blade.... It sure as hell didn't come up a 6 in my crotch.

Good thing I'm too old to be your nephew then. :P

Has anyone seen the first episode of Cross Game? This is getting a fair few perfect score reviews and it sounds like quite an interesting, cute story.

Ristorante Paradiso might not be a write-off yet. Seems that it's quite reverse-harem and not holding back much in that regard. Those with more 'manly' tastes are off-put by it while the ladies and the more 'tolerant' men seem to get what it's on about.

Ghost-07 is getting hammered, as I expected. As is Saki and K-On.

It has been a definite for this year ever since it was announced.

Greg, I've heard a lot of comparisons of Eden and the Bourne movies. They similar? (That would make it even more win in my eyes!)

Well, considering I've never actually watched the Bourne movies, I wouldn't be able to do a good comparison, however on face value alone they might be similar, however no way near absolute.

Must check the TV guide for what time episode 2's on....

Unfair to Saki. And wrong in many contextual ways.
K-ON is KyoAni moebait, done in the style of Kannagi. It isn't that bad. Lucky Star wasn't much at this stage of its run, either.

JC Staff, actually putting money into something. They're one of the few studios who do their best to make their shows not only pretty to look at, but interesting content-wise as well. When they go all-out, the results are invariably good.

The series is part of Fuji TV's noitaminA screening block, which has included, in the past, Honey & Clover (both seasons), Nodame Cantabile (both seasons and the upcoming third later this year), Moyashimon, Toshokan Sensou, Paradise Kiss, Ayakashi and its spinoff Mononoke, Antique Bakery, Hataraki Man and, most recently, Tale of Genji. noitaminA was set up as an experimental, adult-oriented, non-shonen timeslot. As you can tell from the past titles, this has included a lot of josei manga series. Ratings-wise, it has proven successful, with almost every one of these shows getting into the weekly anime top ten at some stage. Which is doesn't sound like much, until you realise that noitaminA is on after midnight and these shows are up against prime-time series.
