Anything in the wooden spooners' history manage that?

Watched the first quarter of Kuronekomonogatari and can't help but wonder where Bakemonogatari will end up on the list. The show overall I think is top-grade material but the only appearance it made at AJAS was the outright worst episode of the whole franchise. :ouch:

Roots Search twice only had one person give it points. And both times it was Mackellar aka Pirate Man. Mappy usually picks the winner. Mackellar has equivalent accuracy for figuring out what will be last and making sure it's not 0.00.

There has been lower ratings than Qwaser.
Not many, but Roots Search wasn't the only one.

The last one that was this low was Super Radical Gag Family, back in 2004 (2.053), and before that was Samuari Deeper Kyo in 2003 (2.081).

Most years the wooden spooner gets a score of 3.000 or higher.

Last Exile went the way Gunslinger Girls did. Never got a second season. :respect:

And did Fate Zero have vampires in it? Granted I didn't pay much attention in the last 2-3 episodes, it kinda went a bit lolwut. Which is a shame because I really enjoyed the vast majority of the story.

I also read it as

Episode 18, the first of the two flashback episodes detailing Kiritsugu's youth. You know, mad scientist father. Hot assistant who secretly tried out the thing he was working on then turned into a Dead Apostle and turned the whole island into them. Natalia comes and wipes them out, saving Kiritsugu in the nick of time. Kiritsugu kills his father and Natalia takes him in.

I only remember this because 18 and 19 were the only episodes from the 2nd half I got anything worth remembering from.

Them looking like zombies is probably intentional. But Dead Apostles are a form of vampire in the Type-Moon universe. A better explanation of them is given in the Tsukihime game and manga, since that's where they mainly appear.

Reminds me of Ryan, who was going through his anime collection, trying to find if he was missing any series, and told me Tsukihime was one of them. To which I responded "yeah, I'm missing it, too". Like everyone else.

There is, in fact, an anime called The Gregory Horror Show. It has 4 seasons. You'll probably find it disappointing.

@Bazza: The short version is that there are two types of vampires in the Type-Moon universe - True Ancestors and Dead Apostles. A True Ancestor is a vampire that doesn't drink need to drink blood to sruvive. Blood isn't essential for vampires in the Tsukihime universe. However, those that do drink blood will become corrupted by it and eventually crave more. Any person they take blood from will become a Dead Apostle. Any person a Dead Apostle bites will also become a Dead Apostle. People from the Church (eg. Ciel from Tsukihime), the Mage Association, or mercenaries for hire (aka Natalia) hunt them down but for very different reasons. That's the gist of it.

The Dead Apostles in Fate/Zero were created from Kiritsugu's father's experiments. Whatever he concocted and Shirley secretly tried, it turned her into a Dead Apostle.

@Mappy: It's amusing how that causes flare-ups on other sites.

Probably tonight. Greg usually does all the weekend ones on a Saturday. And he isn't exactly telling people where series are unless he gets to play 21 Reasons, 88 Club and 99 Problems with you.

I found IS a lot more enjoyable to watch when I steadfastly refused to acknowledge that Charles wasn't a vibrant and equipped male.

He's just a rather shy and easily embarrassed boy, but definitely a boy. There's no way he couldn't be. I mean, just look at how well him and MC-kun get along during their training sessions. Those things on his chest must be some kind of benign growth, which is why he hides his body from MC-kun and the others. Poor guy's got these ugly things on his chest, ruining any chances he has with girls, so he bro's it up with MC-kun instead. Then he gets a bit embarrassed about spending so much time with MC-kun so he pretends to be a girl so that MC-kun doesn't have to feel homosexuell about always being together. But MC-kun never minded because having another dude in essentially an all girl's school might just be enough to keep him from turning homosexuell which is why MC-kun and Charles get along so well.

Yes, that's it. That's what happened. Exactly.

Anyone who disagrees will get bible verses thrown at them. :whistling:

Haha, Bakemonogatari.

We played only the worst episode of the lot, one which (if I have my information correct) was aired unfinished due to time management issues at the animation studios, and sent out with patches of reused animation, those silly colour cards and blank scenes and otherwise pretty poor assembly.

I rated Bakemonogatari on having seen the whole thing in Bluray, thus gave it a very high score. If I was pressured into voting based on only what we played it'd probably have gotten a big fat 0. That episode is like the mole your better half has down there (ya'no, the one with the hair growing out of it..) that ruins an otherwise fine piece of work.

How did the rest of you who've seen the whole thing measure it?

I watched various episode of Baks. I understand the majority of the people that like this value the stylised ecchi angle and think it's a director's dream. Those aren't qualities I care about in any title. SHAFT is not my cup of tea.

Bazza, we discussed it back in 2009 and asked individual people. You'd find about 1 in 4 that were entranced by it. Most of the rest were non-plussed or disgusted. Still seems to be the case. Remember, they felt that way when we showed the popular bit of Nisemonogatari as well. So there is consistency with that sentiment. And remember Madoka came 96th out of 103 last year, so Shinbo tends to rile AJAS. SZS has finished well but that's more the source material's style of humour rather than Shinbo's touch.

On the bright side, Bazza - it finished better than Fate/Zero.

Is a 4-way tie the biggest number of titles ever tied together? I remember there was a 4-way tie for 3rd in the 2008 poll.

Possibly, although i do remember that 4-way 3rd spot...still could not believe those 4 were also consecutive titles on the polling form...

1. They were played back to back. Space to breathe/reflect/digest wasn't allowed. The 2nd offering was forced straight onto us. There should have been a gap.

2. If you look across the poll over time, two season shows tend to get into the avergae scores unless they're really good in our eyes. Fate/Zero got carved up by us. Penguindrum took a huge fall now it's been finished. And....one certain other two season show is going to appear by 30. At this point in the poll, scores are getting into the average range of 6/10. 7/10 indicates it was worth our time overall. 8/10 is the rare territory of it was truly worth our time.
