Changes on free-to-air TV

by Last Exile » Sat Oct 21, 2006 10:24 pm

I was watching SBS tonight and every program is now broken every 5-10 minutes by commercials. Was that simply a channel choice or related to the new televesion prgramming standards that were implemented over the last week?

Also was that the first time there was a tie in Iron Chef and that overtime was enforced? Showing the requirements for overtime at the start of the hour duel was kind of giving it away, to be honest.
Disgusting...

I'm not sure that SBS's decision to run ads during their programming, rather than between, as had been the case before, was forced upon them by any changes in the standard of FTA television charters. AFter all, if that were the case, then the ABC would have to, as well. No, I just think it is a decision by the directors of SBS to finally ruin SBS's reputation. Watching MythBusters over the last couple of weeks has been irritating in the extreme, because the ads themselves were the very example of banal slick corporate scheiße, and not something I wanted to see during a show I want to watch. It is bad enough having to watch the brain-dead bullshit that doubles for ads during channel 10's motorsport telecasts. And, apart from a very few other shows, that is about the only few occasions where FTA tv really bothers my existence in this world. And they wonder why ratings are down across the board.

Will that mean the end of everybody's favourite SBS' foreign movies ?

At times it could be used to mask over everybody's favourite scenes in a film they've never heard before .
I must feel proud about the things I choose ...,

Be it Ero-games , doujinshi , or clothes ; its all the SAME !
