Back FROM the future :O

by Kimosabe » Sun Aug 19, 2007 1:39 am

He's gone completely mad! I know you're all thinking it. Or at least you WOULD be thinking it if you saw how I was making this post. With my colossal 640x240 screenres and my whole FOUR levels of greyscale. Sure, it's not so conventional, but it works. And this forum loads pretty fast when you consider I'm running on an 80MHz SH3. Yes, it's an HPC. Because this was one of the first of the forums I visit/know that I tried that didn't look like ass on my screen, I figured I'd just drop a message saying KUDOS to admin for having a site that works with the cream of the crop for 1998. Pretty hilarious.

I'll probably come back and have a look around. Maybe next time when the OS-Tan jumping up to get the mouse pointer pic shows up I won't freak out as much. (This thing doesn't have a mouse, nor, I believe, mouse support at all EVAR. Only touchscreen).

Well, that's all from 1998. See you in the 21st Century!

that's it, to outdo you i'm going to have to make use of the z80 i have lying around in order to try and make a machine i can access the web with...
come to think of it, that almost certainly won't work. but it might be good for a laugh when i get around to trying it

z80 more like z50

by Kimosabe » Sun Aug 19, 2007 1:39 pm

It'll only be more impressive than this if it's an IBM z50 or a HP Jornada 820 or a Compaq Aero 8000 or something :P

But for sure, this is some pretty funny hardware. I could probably get my A-11 on here, and that's only 36MHz I think, with an even smaller screen and keys, but that thing won't sync with XP, and doesn't support the network layer :(

With the serial dock connected to it, the A-11 DOES however look a bit like the pistol from Blade Runner, so I guess that's something...

But hey, this makes a pretty funny pocket music player. For sure no stereo output is a minus but the inbuilt speaker is surprisingly good and it DOES after all play MP3's xD

Let's see ur z80 connect to these here internets using 2 AA batteries. That'd be an achievement.

There's a site somewhere that's hosted on a C64 that's only modifications were adding a hard drive and ethernet.
Mel Gibson's remake of The Life of Brian is nowhere near as funny as the original.

not really, considering the z80 doesn't get used much anymore. maybe i should use some cheap microcontroller instead? then again, there's the $100 laptop for kids who can't get real computers...

Does an Armada E500 run Windows CE? :O

Anyway O finally got a wireless card that works on this thing so I am making this post from a wireless laptop that runs on AA's. Let's see that other nonsense do THAT.

:P

My 620LX arrived, and it's only 75MHz, but on the upside I can at least emulate a commodore 64 in colour now ^_^

Windows 2000. It's capable of running XP too, but not very quickly.
