NAGANO — A 12-year-old girl from Komoro, Nagano Prefecture, who had been missing since Saturday, was found safe in Odawara, Kanagawa Prefecture, early Wednesday, police said. Hiromi Yamanaka showed up at Odawara Police Station with a man who appeared to be about 30, police said. The two said they came to the police station after learning about the public search for Hiromi on television.
Hiromi parted from her father at JR Komoro Station at around 9:50 a.m. Saturday after he drove her there, telling him she was going shopping in Saku with her friend. At around 3 p.m., she called her mother on her mobile phone to say she would stay at her friend's home overnight. When the mother called her again at around 7 p.m., she hung up, saying she was going to sleep and that was the last time her parents heard from her.
