Death Note live action?

by White Demon » Wed Feb 20, 2008 3:37 pm

Just popped into my head

Is there any possibility of playing the two Death Note live action movies at AJAS anytime?

I watched these two movies in early January, and while live action generally pales in comparison to the anime, I believe that the movies were BETTER than the anime. I really enjoyed watching these two movies a whole lot more than the anime (which was really good itself).

Just another thought for people to discuss/ignore as they see fit.

AJAS = Adelaide Japanese Animation Society
Showing live actions isn't really our club's objective. I think everyone is also wary of live actions due to what happened last time.
I wouldn't mind seeing the Death Note or the Nodame Cantabile live actions but I wonder how the rest of the audience would react.

Agreed, everyone has been warned of OAV night, I am hoping that AJAS doesn't just stop at anime, but in turns embraces some Japanese culture/ influences....

how long does this OAV run? and if anyone has seen it, is it good (Ajas worthy material)

While we indeed are an animation society, they do say variety is the spice of life. Remember the lulz that were created when Ian Thorpe appeared on screen? More of that can only be a good thing. :D

Lies.

Do I have to point out that the Death Note live action movies have been released by Madman Entertainment already and they'll want $200 per movie?

The FMA movie was anime and if I remember correctly we screened it before Madman managed to, whereas the Death Note movies have been available for months.

Didn't stop us playing A!MG did it?

I recall some conversation about the licensing issue with A!MG, I think we solved it by 'playing my DVD copy' or something like that.

i could go and buy the DN movies if required...?

If you wanted to see it why didn't you go to the Mercury Cinema? They have already screened it there and might put it on again some time... who knows?
