Live action Night

by asurin » Mon Nov 27, 2006 3:38 pm

I would like to propose a live action night to take place some time in Januarry (Eg before uni starts).

The playlist requirements would be simple. All content must be either Japanese or about Anime fandom. Ideally the Live action shows should be based on anime or manga, if not then they should be origional (Compared to western films) and unreleased in Australia.

I propose the following to make up part of the playlist, which I can bring.

Movie: Hinokino (2005). Director: Takahiko Akiyama. Cast: Masatoshi Nakamura, Kanata Hongo, Mikako Tabe, Riho Makise.

Synopsis: Satoru, a heartbroken boy who has withdrawn into his room for a year, uses a remote-controlled robot called "hinokio" to take his first cautious, fearful step into the outside world again. He goes to school and finds fellowship. Then through an encounter with a girl called Jun, he reconnects with humanity and feels once again the sensation of warm human touch (Eg gantz second season*). But Jun deeply desires to meet directly with the real Satoru, instead of meeting him through the robot. Satoru, who also wants to experience the world directly activates the robots sensation mode, exposing himself to mortal threat. Jun risks all in an attempt to rescue him.

*Only kidding.

TV series

Gokusen- 1st episode. This is shitloads better than the anime version.
Your under arrest- 1st and 2nd episode.

Only the Japanese could come up with a plot like that.

This sounds like a great idea... A little variety should be good.

Gokusen and Train Man come to mind.

It is a good thing Madman hasn't been able to find Steel Angel Kurumi Pure yet. 8)

I think you should be more worried about Seven of Four getting hold of it. He has a real way with Kurumi. Kurumi was his first.

And as for live action, yeah sounds alright. Variety is good. I'll be amazed if you play live action Sailor Moon, I loled so hard at that.

Wonder how long it'll be before Haruhi Suzumiya live action comes and they have to emulate Mikuru Beam. ;)

They'll first have to find a young Japanese actress who has the acting range to be as convincingly grumpy/overbearing/selfish as Haruhi is. 8)

I won't aid MM either, however as the show is only PG rated, it is probably the bad acting/plot that we are talking about.

The only thing that I will give as a hint is the cover for the first Japanese DVD of this show:

That has got to be one of the worst cosplayers I have ever seen (and she got paid for it).

Considering it was an "official" production by M.O.E., as opposed to merely cosplaying. You knew it was going to be bad....

I have the feeling the extremely excessive use of 'desu' has something to do with it. Did Kurumi ever manage a sentence without saying 'desu'?

Like I said, if you want anything Steel Angel Kurumi-realted, just ask Seven of Four. He tracked down every single DVD release of every series and version when he was but a young, underage lad. :)

That's an affirmative on the ~desu. But not ~desu as you know it ~desu.

Well, funnily enough nobody ever asked Seven of Four for his age. Until he finally got out of high school and he had to spend 6 months waiting to hit 18 so he could get into another bar besides the UniBar.
