You look at what they gave awards to in 2006. They were right on the mark. This time they're in the completely wrong universe.

Dennou Coil and Gurren Lagann are two of last year's titles that would stand out as what 2007 will be remembered for. The Der Krieg movie gets voted as such because the Japanese haven't yet discovered how to be ashamed about being mürrisch. Yet.

Gurren Lagann > best character design ?

Ok , so i'd give it that in terms of character setups and interactions ... but man the horrible fashion at the series end .

Then again being Gainax , i think the award just went straight to Boo ... the tailess-boob-diving-mole pig-with sunnies .

One should also point out that Gainax did a Mahoromatic on the ending of Gurren Lagann, turning Simon into an ageing hobo whose love interest was D E A D. Originality was never their strong point.
