THE AJAS POLL 2006 - RESULTS

by Dhumahn » Wed Jan 17, 2007 10:07 am

For those who missed it at last night's meeting, here are the results for the poll:

First off, the wooden spoon award goes to:

41. Popotan 3.800
Nobody likes Christmas shops anyway.

Now for the motley crew:

40. Sky Girls 4.556
minderjährigen mädchen was never in fashion, was it??

39. Bleach 4.679
For a while, this was sitting in last place. The last few votes got this one off the bottom (considering it was 10th last year, it is surprising too see just what can happen in a year).

38. Godannar 4.708
Too much bouncing, not enough plot.

37. Koi Koi 7 4.750
Did I just mention minderjährigen mädchen??

36. Kanon 4.857
Zzzzzzzzzzzz...

34. Interlude 5.286
34. Blood+ 5.286
Hey look, a tied spot. There's a few of these this year. Int..(Hedgehog, reboot...Ahhh!! I just got another 'blue screen of death'!!!). B+ may not return this year after getting this score (it was 11th in 2005).

33. Raimurio Senkitan 5.375
One of those we played at the start of the year. Didn’t get past that.

32. Jungle wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu Final 5.444
Finally, it's over!!!

31. Shinigami no Ballad 5.545
Just looked too weird for some to get a handle on.

30. NANA 5.643
Something different. Sank like the Titanic.

28. Pani Poni Dash 5.833
28. He Is My Master 5.833
Another tie. PPD was half-decent to start, but fell away after ep.9. HiMM would have been better, had it not been for the 5-year old maid, as well as a repetitive storyline (although it was in the top 10 during early voting).

27. Gunparade March 6.000
Was good for a filler. Not much else. Season two sould be much better.

26. Iriya no Sora - UFO no Natsu OVA 6.063
Started well, finished badly.

25. Kashimashi -Girl meets Girl- 6.227
Did better than what I thought it would, even though it got voted off.

24. Kino's Travels 6.364
Did well, considering we only played the preview.

23. Giniro no Kami no Agito 6.571
Did about what I thought it would, considering they rushed the ending.

22. Honey & Clover 6.591
Warning, train wreck ahead..splat!!

21. Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society 6.650
You know a show is doing badly when it does worse than its predecessor.

20. Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid OVA 6.909
Did worse than what I thought it would, maybe it needed another episode or two.

19. Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig 6.917
First season was so much better.

18. Ah! My Goddess TV 6.929
Belldandy’s still good after all these years.

16. School Rumble Ni Gakki 7.000
16. Jigoku Shoujo 7.000
One more tie. SR needs to get taken off the OVA lineup and put on the regular playlist. JS needs to just be shown.

15. Ergo Proxy 7.050
Would have done better, if it only had more light...

14. Fate-Stay Night 7.071
Everyone enjoys fantasy-based anime, don’t they??

13. Shakugan no Shana (Including all Shorts) 7.107
For comments, visit Wikipedia and type “shakugan.com”

12. Ichigo Mashimaro 7.231
One of the more simple-plot shows we have played. Did far better than I tought it would (I was thinking around 25th would have been about right)

11. Saikano OVA 7.250
It's always good to show both sides of the story.

And now for the top 10.

10. XXX-Holic 7.267
With it’s psyhadelic storyline, and the really long people, this show has managed to scrape into the top 10 (just).

9. Fullmetal Alchemist 7.286
The only long show that we played this year that did better than 20th.

8. Rec 7.591
The only OVA to get a score this high, and the first short-length show to do well in quite a few years.

7. Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni 7.633
Children and blood go well together.

6. Japanorama (Documentary) 7.667
Something different…and has made a lot of us wanting to experience parts of the program (For example: I want that 1:1 scale doll for $2700).

5. Ouran High School Host Club 7.714
What started out as an oddball (being half yoai-ish, half trap-ish), It has really stood out from the crowd (No wonder the guys from JAFWA in Perth wanted us to play it).

4. Welcome to the N.H.K. 8.500
Making eroge's never looked so good...

Now for the top 3. If you have been paying attention, you would know which one's these are. Over the course of the poll, these 3 have each being ranked first at some point or another.

3. Black Lagoon 8.893
I just cannot see Remi in the 'bridesmaid's dress'…

The other two ended up with equal scores:

1. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya 8.900
1. Hellsing Ultimate 8.900

And that’s it....almost!!!

According to AJAS history, a new poll is now in place between the top two, in the form of a tiebreaker (as we never leave it at that). This means that you will have to vote again for these shows.

So, please PM me within the next two weeks with your choice. the series with the most votes wins outright.

It should be pointed out that Roots Search was the wooden spooner in 1996, 1997 and 1998, when we voted on everything AJAS had watched up until that time. Yes, it was that bad.

Roots Search was bad in a "Plan 9 From Outer Space" kinda way. Apocalypse Zero was bad in an innately wrong kinda way.
