Playlist - 3rd May 2011 - 60'S NIGHT

by Dhumahn » Fri Apr 22, 2011 11:40 pm

Yes, we're going through the ages at AJAS this year, and this meeting commences our theme "50 years of modern anime".

Originally, this was to be done over 5 nights over 5 months, however we've since realised there's just too much good stuff out there.....so instead, this will NOW be screened over 9 nights, on the following evenings:

May 3rd - 60's night
May 31st - 70's night (part 1)
June 7th - 70's night (part 2)
August 2nd - 80's night (part 1)
August 9th - 80's night (part 2)
September 6th - 90's night (part 1)
September 13th - 90's night (part 2)
November 1st - 00's night (part 1)
November 8th - 00's night (part 2)

The 60's night playlist is down below

Good to see those 4 other decades got split into 2 nights each. Just too much good stuff to cram into one night. :)

That means there's enough time to not only play MD Geist, but the director's cut and MD Geist II: Death Force to boot! Thanks Greg.
Although I don’t know about the directions at 4:51.
It’s commonly known when you look north in Japan East is to your left. Please don’t try to correct that sentence. It lasts only for a second but I wouldn’t expect a mistake like that.

No, I don't think there will ever be enough time to play that. 8)

Most of this is down to the fact that we could run a night based on the product of a single year. A 90's night could be entirely covered by 1998 alone.

The 60's remains just one night's playlist because of a distinct lack of Tetsujin 28-gou, Tetsuwan Atom and Jungle Taitei subs.

I'm saddened by the lack of Sennin Buraku, but that's still a damn good list. Did you ever actually play the 2003 Cyborg 009?

Sennin Buraku is sitting in reserve as a time filler, if we need one. As is Rainbow Sentai Robin, Attack No.1, Mahou Tsukai Sally and Wonder 3. Oh, and Tetsuwan Atom may appear, as well. (There is room for one more title on that list).
We never played the 2003 Cyborg 009 (or the 2003 Tetsuwan Atom, for that matter) because they both got licenced real fast. And back then, shows got dropped like hot potatoes by subbers when that happened (it was the era when Media Factory first started sending out their C&D notices).

Lol, very true!! Kindle's are crap for reading manga on, and at least on 35mm, you can project it onto a wall to read without glasses too. :D

I'd just like to take this opportunity to say I really enjoyed this night, and would watch more of everything (except maybe Papi) if given the chance. I also had GE GE GEGEGE NO GEEEEEE~ stuck in my head for a while... then when that went, in came KERON KORON~ KERON KERON KORO~N
