Worst pile of rubbish I've ever seen. I'd rather be watching Gingaizer.
Although I don’t know about the directions at 4:51.
It’s commonly known when you look north in Japan East is to your left. Please don’t try to correct that sentence. It lasts only for a second but I wouldn’t expect a mistake like that.

Hilariously bad. Some weird cross between Gurren Lagann and Megaman. Does it actually get better or can I vote it off now?
However, I did laugh pretty hard when those two girls got 'squeezed', and at the "BREAST FIRE" attack.

I've heard the "like TTGL" quip before (after all, Imaishi is a huge Dynamic Pro fan), but Megaman? Really?

If so, then the Baldios cast had teleporting penises.

TTGL is basically a rip of ye olde style mecha anime, of which Nagai Go's Mazinger series is one. Shin Mazinger is merely the latest incarnation of what is, essentially, the real deal.

I liked TTGL much more when it was called what it truly ripped - FLCL.

I too got TTGL vibes off of the show.

Others may not have gotten Lupin vibes, though. :)

Should have been left for the "LOLWUT" playlist, rather than the main one.

Resident tank enthusiast. See me for racist and opinionated storytelling and vaguely accurate historical tank warfare-themed rants.

Come on, give the show a chance, episode 2 starts the story proper.

Actually, I've posted more than 4000. But I've deleted those not counted.

Except it's not. If you're going to dub any Gainax show as a FLCL ripoff, it's Diebuster. But then, a studio repeating similar themes isn't ripping off. It's self reference and recycling themes. Hell, if you want to get technical the first Gainax series that was a coming of age story for a young-un set against a large scale space opera was Gunbuster. Honneamise doesn't count because the guy was like 28.

TTGL is a self-confessed Getter Robo ripoff, with gratuitous Majuu Sensen (Antispiral flagship from eps 24-26) and Freeder Bug (the entire goddamn face motif) references. Imaishi's been pretty open about both his Ken Ishikawa fanboyism (hell, he gave a speech at the guy's funeral, let alone how he handled ep1 of Re: Cutie Honey or how Dead Leaves simply copypasted Go Ichimonji in) and how Spiral Power is just Getter Rays with some slight tweaks. Tweaks that occurred early on in the show's development when they realised that the idea of "making a show about Getter-2" could lead to a funky spiral motif. That still doesn't stop the Anti Spiral being the time traveling bugmen from Shin Getter though. Well, the bugmen were better drawn at least.

Oh, and kaminaclose.jpg has nothing on pretty much any face early Hayato makes.

Which once again goes to show that Gainax are the kings of rehash as we discussed previously.

I don't fully buy that argument. TTGL had the same director as FLCL and a good proportion of the crew that worked on it. Simon and Naota - similar in age, physique and both going through the 'coming of age' despite some notable differences in personality (softie vs sourpuss). Yoko has Haruko's zest and Asuka's body. Similar animation styles, although TTGL seems to drift towards more Western world styles. Both use rock as a core part of their music. Both verge on the apocalypse.

*shrug* Or maybe I'm just bitter since I've noticed during my recent visits to Pulp Fiction and Shin Tokyo that people buying TTGL anime/manga are raving on about Naruto and Death Note as well. Fangirls really stick the dagger in and then some.

How do you think I feel every time a yaoi fangirl starts singing the praises of Natsume Yuujinchou? It makes me want to start up a regular fan cull, weeding out those who are desperately asking for it.

You know how I felt the last time I saw a girl fangirling over Kamille Bidan? Like high-fiving them. Especially when she said her favourite MS was the F91, and admitted that she no longer liked Wing.

Well, some of them read a latter volume and went 'Oh no! I know how it ends now! My life is over!' Want me to give you a call next time they emerge? :)
