Carried from another thread:

Episodes remaining:

Genshiken II - 3
xxx-HOLiC - 4
Higurashi Kai - 4
Darker Than Black - 5

any suggestions as to what you would like to replace them? I'll suggest Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu to replace Genshiken, but that's just me.

I would suggest Natsume Yuujinchou as a replacement for xxxHOLiC Kei but I'm doubting the episode release.

Baccano has been one that I hear mainly positve things about. Sounds like a good replacement for Darker Than Black. 16 episodes.
Maybe a replacement for xxx-holic Kei could be Vampire Knight. 13 episodes.
Minami-ke is slice of life enough to replace Genshiken 2. I hear mainly good things about this. 13 episodes.
Shakugan no Shana 2nd series to replace Higurashi 2nd series. 24 episodes.

Genre-wise, those 4 are similar to the ones they'd replace. There's more good things than bad said about them.

Shakugan no Shana 2 is made of whining, not really the sort of thing you'd want to play. Kurenai would probably be a better choice. As they say "Why so serious??"

Mappy says Kurenai has a decent beginning and decent end. The problem was there was next to nothing in between. :? A pity because I had hopes for that one. I also had hopes for Alison & Lillia but that goes very, very slowly that its cute drawing style gets negated, not to mention the lead guy is so dense.

Bamboo Blade has my interest. I just don't know what it would replace and whether it wouldn't rile certain people to have their power levels go Over 9000. It's a full length series, though, so its slot would be full for this year if it went on.

This playlist is quite long, time-wise. Miyori no Mori is about 108 minutes. I'd say we should play something shorter if I wasn't dropping hints that we should play something better.... But people will have to find that out, tonight. 8)

Last Exile wrote:I came only for Garden of SInners and yet again was spellbound. Sheer brilliance.

A lot of the pacing issues that effected the first two weren't present in this one. There was still too much non-expository chatter, but at least there was more random, blutig violence. And at least Fujino was a decent adversary for Shiki, this time. The girl from the first movie was a pathetic pushover....
If anything, you have to be immune to slow atmospherics (ie, induced comas amongst the ritalin brigade) to get something out of Garden of Sinners. It's a Type-Moon thing, that any anime made from one of Nasu's creations will be slow. But at least, in Garden of Sinners, the budget is on a movie level, so it looks really pretty. It's one of the reasons most people say there is no Tsukihime anime.... Because, really, there isn't. There really isn't. I don't care what anyone says to the contrary. 8)

I liked Miyori no Mori too.

Once I realized it was, in fact, a childrens' movie (having no knowledge of it beforehand), I changed my mindset to accommodate that fact allowing me to enjoy the film.

I knew I wasn't going to get LOLBOOBIES, or lots of blood/gore/drug references etc, so I didn't expect them.

I guess there's really only 1 or 2 things in a year that really move you/are epic in one's eyes. Last year it was Paprika and Nodame Cantabile for me. Garden of Sinners is the thing for me so far this year. I'm still hoping that a series will still move me this year. Might have to wait until October for the Paris chapter of Nodame Cantabile though, at this rate. :)

As for kids, only Shinkai could ever make them interesting for me.

I was more thinking along the lines of plane nerding, gun nerding and/or obscure-historical-reference nerding. Without mentioning a certain AJAS member who does the former two listed items. :whistling:

depends on how broad we keep the playlist, when something softer ends we could possibly line up a show such as Over drive. Whilst i haven't watched it, it appears to be possibly along those lines of interest, the title over drive is possibly a bad choice as the anime is actually about bicycles and Tour De France, but it goes along the idea of showing Nodame in the way that we are showing something out of the ordinary, that is not ecchi, that is not action, but has AN element of promise to it!

Um, I don't think he would, Candice. Scott went as Zetsobu-sensei and Jason went as the guy from that series who no one pays attention to. It worked. Atory inspired him to do it. Atory's the last person who would tell him to.

He ended up paying his entry fee when Atory said that he probably should. 8)

He was walking around AVCon for something like 5 hours without a single person challenging him about his lack of entry badge. Which isn't surprising.... I had mine hidden underneath my windcheater for most of both days, and nobody batted an eyelid. Being one of those permanent features of AVCon makes people ignore the possibility that I might never have paid the entry fee. 8)

well I knew youd pay up Mappy..... or at least get a free pass like Ryan (white) did. I had to tell one dude off for hiding his pass inside his shirt pocket, he was wearing a suit, and he rolled his eyes at me just because we had to make sure if he had it on him or not (the rules did state it has to be visible at all times on avcon grounds) at least jason did pay eventually! If I werent so much in a zombie state for quite a while during the weekend nor busy, id have been chasing him down myself

We were testing to see how long he could be "in character". If he managed to stay unnoticed the whole day I would have still got him to pay at the end. I had to ruin the fun when I went on vendors shift as it's impossible to get people to pay for a ticket if you're walking around with someone without one.

The same power that runs their engines also gives them ears and tails. They sprout when their magical powers are tapped.

Suspension of belief. Believe it. 8)

I awesom'd at Yeager breaking Mach I last episode. It was a surprisingly accurate reenactment all things considered. AND IT HAD A SONIC BOOM HOW COOL IS THAT GEIS. SERIOUSLY. CAPSLOCK, CRUISE CONTROL, ETC.

Resident tank enthusiast. See me for racist and opinionated storytelling and vaguely accurate historical tank warfare-themed rants.

It's AJAS, what do you expect? Serious/intelligent conversation occurs at the meeting itself. The forums are for ranting.

That doesn't qualify.

Btw, if you have a problem with service, zip it or don't watch that title. There was nothing service-like about that episode of Garden of Sinners at all. That scene was painful and heartbreaking. Anyone who got anything else out of that - what the hell is wrong with you? And if you didn't figure out what you were in for with Spice and Wolf from the opening credits the first time it was played, :?

If you really need to rant, save it for the ending credits.
