Zero - Anna Tsuchiya

I'm going my way, I believe in my way
I'm better than you guys
I'm living for my sake, not for their sake, yeah!
I'm finding my way, I'm finding my love
I'm not stupid like you
All that I need is, I only need is selfless love
All I don't need is, I only need is selfless love

Gyroscope - Snakeskin. Possibly the best song I've heard this year, not to mention featuring one damn cool looking crop circle in the filmclip.

PS. If you want a good laugh, check out the filmclip for Silverchair - If You Keep Losing Sleep. I think Daniel Johns has turly lost it now, if he hadn't already.

Everyone likes the music they grew up with, and think it's better than what is produced today. Which is true, since there hasn't been anything worth listening to since 1987. 8)

Foo Fighters - The Pretender 2 hours later, still cranking this. It is just damn awesome. I think the clip will amuse White somewhat. ;)

What if I say you're not like the others?!
What I say I'm not just another
One of your plays, you're a pretender?!
What if I say I'll never surrender?!

That is gold. This is easily the best thing I've heard this year by a country mile!

Hey, turns out I have this Tinnitus as well. I get it as the humming type noise a TV makes when you first turn it on, but alot louder and more annoying.

+1 word added to vocabulary. Today wasn't a total waste. 8)

It took 10.5 months to find a gem like that. 2007 has been a lacking year musically. But meh, it's not like it's the only thing I'm listening to. Just the thing I'm listenting to the most in a day.

Foo Foghters - Stacked Actors. The mobile phone riff, Dave at his angriest dishing it at Courtney Love and Hollywood like there's no tomorrow.

Hey hey now, can you make it?
Can you make it look like we won?!
Hey hey now, can you fake it?
And cry when they all die blonde?!
Stack dead actors, stacked to the rafters
Line up the bastards, all I want is the truth
Stack dead actors, stack to the rafters
Line up the bastards and cry when they all die blonde

So true.

LOUIS ARMSTRONG - WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see 'em bloom for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
I see skies of blue, clouds of white
The bright blessed days, and dark sacred nights
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
The colors of the rainbow
Are so pretty in the sky
It's also on the faces
Of people goin' by
I see friends shakin' hands
Sayin', "How do you do?"
Fairies sayin', "I love you."
I hear babies cry, and I watch 'em grow
They'll learn much more than I'll ever know
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
I think to myself, what a wonderful world

This is Halloween (NBC movie version)

EDIT: nearly 30 minutes later, after hearing MM's cover of the This is Halloween, I have to admit, MM did a brilliant, brilliant job, covering the entire song by hisself vocals wise, and sang it almost the same as the original vocals, and quite quickly!

Frank Mills - Music Box Dancer

Scratching one's fingers down a dirty corrugated iron fence produces a better tune than pretty much everything Bob Dylan has been involved with.

The Tea Party - Heaven Coming Down

Nearly a decade on, this song gives me the shivers from the opening chord. I was fortunate enough to see these guys live at the Big Day Out in 2002. The crows knew varied mixtures of their songs, but live they are just in a class of their own. Impromptu jingles, their classics like this and Temptation, then throwing in covers of Jeff Buckley's 'Last Goodbye' and The Rolling Stones's 'Painted Black'. 7 hours later people were still screaming about the Tea Party during The Prodigy set. The Tea Party were easily the most popular/best performance of the day despite their early afternoon slot.

Beautiful song. I have never heard any guitar like this ever again. Sounds so ghostly yet exotic. The lead singer has such a unique, moving voice. All 3 of them had great looks/sex appeal as well. Probably the best band to ever come out of Canda. Lyrics that spell impending doom that is somehow full of hope. Just amazing.

You do know what the song is about, don't you?

Considering I mentioned what it's about 2 pages ago or so, yeah. :?

I know what it's about. Lead singer Richard Patrick was drunk during a flight and starded undressing himself while semi-conscious. A little row happened, nothing major, the other band members laughed and took pictures and decided to mail them to Richard's father. Hence the lines 'Awake on my airplane/My skin is bare, my skin is theirs/I feel like a newborn' and 'Could you take my picture/Cause I won't remember' and 'Hey dad! What do you think about your son now?!'

That's the whole beauty of the song, Mappy. it was about something that should have been embarassing and demeaning but Richard Patrick turned into something positive, beautiful and inspiring. 7 years later it still gets me going whenever I hear it. It was a very un-Filter song, really. Much lighter, synths during the chorus and other moments, exotic bongos, a very dreamy film clip.

Remember the first time I heard it back in the middle of 2000 on Triple J. Immediately I hit the record button on my stereo. I knew it was Filter but I was all 'this is pretty unusual from them, yet it really works.' Knew from the first time I heard it this song would be a hit and it was. The comments on Youtube are very much in the same vein - amusing origins but a beautiful, inpsiring song that is kind of 70s and kind of modern.

@Mappy: Yeah yeah, but there also is Better Man from the Three album. The full length 8:16 version just owns along with Take which also breaks 8 minutes.

AFI - Miss Murder. Best anti-emo song I've ever heard. Makes me laugh at how many people think it's mürrisch when it's clearly not. The comments on Youtube are just freaking hilarious. Always thought it was anti-emo and good ol' Wiki proved me right. :)

The Butthole Surfers - Pepper. Someone uploaded the actual film to Youtube at long last so I cranked that for 4 hours straight. Gibby Haynes is such a funny, twisted man. And he kinda looks like Mappy. Coincidence? I think not.

Nice to see there are people not yet ashamed enough of mürrisch to admit to dabbling in its efforts.

1. Yes, they are a real band, they've been around since the early 80s. Noted for their wackiness and even zanier album titles like Locust Abortion Circus, Hairway to Steven, Electriclarryland. Pepper was #4 in JJJ's Hottest 100 of 1996 and was also the accidental smash commercial hit of that year. Scott Weiland spent his earlier years here before he bounced off to Stone Temple Pilots and then Velvet Revolver.
2. I still attest Gibby Haynes and Mappy are quite alike in looks and personality.
3. Remember the episode of the Simpsons where the Flanders lost their house to that sudden tornado? When they went to the church for help, Todd got a Butthole Surfers T-Shirt and proudly proclaimed 'Hey Dad, I'm a surfer!'
4. There is always hope for the US if they allow band names like that.

And since it's stimulated so much interest conversation - Butthole Surfers - Pepper

Enjoy!

Alice Cooper - Go To Hell (the version recorded in 2005 at the Montreaux Jazz Festival)
Mel Gibson's remake of The Life of Brian is nowhere near as funny as the original.

Gorillaz - D-Sides album. Darn, it's very hypnotic and very...stoner? But very exotic, soothing, cruisy. Could listen to this all day and night during a steamy summer with ease. Rock It is an absolute gem. Bill Murray is a funny one.

Gorillaz - Stop The Dams

He was the only decent commentator for footy on Fox telecasts and the only sane person on 3AW telecasts. He would've been as iconic as Rex Hunt or Bruce McAveney if he'd lived long enough. Manner of his death is just weird. How does someone die from SLEEPWALKING?

Was he in the habit of sleeping near cliffs, bear traps or other items fatal to walk near?

Agreed, Tommy. Straight Lines was a reasonable song but not great. Hoenstly, it only came in at #2 because there was virtually no competition.

Only Muse - Knights of Cydonia at #1, Foo Fighters - The Pretender at #6 and Gyroscope - Snakeskin at #16 were memorable.

Gyroscope - Snakeskin. A desperately needed shot of energised, heartfelt, volcanic rock in a very weak year musically. Clip is simple yet stunning. Awesome use of crop circles and wind.

Gawd, you wouldn't be listening to that if you were my age.... Totally overplayed on radio and tv when it came out, along with Born in the USA.... Both songs, subsequently, make me cringe when I hear them, now.

Beats the crap played these days. I'm surprised you didn't mentioning Dancing int he Dark, or did you like that one. Apparently it was the highest selling song in Australia in 1985.

The din of the Fringe. I have never seen that many people in Adelaide in my life.

The Prodigy - Voodoo People

Probably the most intriguing film clip I've ever seen and a song that was WAY ahead of its time for 1994. Exotic from the moment it starts and thrilling to the last second. Don't worry about the wildlife in Africa. THIS is way more dangerous!
