The Bourne Ultimatum

by Last Exile » Tue Aug 21, 2007 1:42 pm

Remember everything.
Forgive nothing.

In 9 days, Jason Bourne is back...

Simply put, first movie in about 5 years that I've been anticipating very highly. The previews looked pretty damn good and Matt Damon is pure win, as The Departed, Good Will Hunting and The Rainmaker showed.

Anyone else going to be seeing it?

Oh it sounds like a good movie, haven't seen the first one. The Departed rocked! (Marky Mark was so funny!) I had waited for the Simpsons movie for a long time too

The Bourne Ultimatum is actually the 3rd. The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy were on TV on the last 2 Fridays on Channel 10, I taped them both and have watched Supremacy about 4 times now.

Movies suck in comparison to the books.

Probably for the same reasons animes suck compared to the manga version?

Scrapped Princess proves that false.
The Bourne trilogy of books would be too long to make into movies and the themes presented would not be relevant to today's movie audience. The Jackal stopped being a threat years ago.
As a movie trilogy with no comparison to the books they are quite enjoyable. You have to think of them in the same way as the Escaflowne movie and series, with the only points of similarity being the characters and setting.

I have been advised before of the large difference and that is the problem with turning novels series into movies. You can't find 300+ pages of material that well into a 2 hour movie, it has to change somewhat. As their own version, I think they do quite well and that Matt Damon owns. However, thanks for pointing that out, I'll have a look for the books when I get the time and money.

Indeed, Scrapped Princess proves that wrong along with Fullmetal Alchemist and Someday's Dreamers. I'm sure we could find more examples if we had enough time to think/look.

That's been proven by Harry Potter... the latest movie is one of the longest books and the shortest movie so far, apparently parts of it don't make sense because of what they cut out.
Mel Gibson's remake of The Life of Brian is nowhere near as funny as the original.

I detect a Special Edition DVD in the future.

Oh, and one more thing pertinent to this thread:
