I'll be having home net very soon, meaning a will need a microphone+headphone setup.

Problem is, the people I know that use Logitech have had their headsets die on them recently shortly after purchase and all. I'm not sure they are a safe/decent brand anymore.

Any tips and RRPs?

Depends on what you'll be using the microphone for? If it's just speech pretty much any brand will do.

All headphones have a finite life span. I tend to go for ones that aren't too expensive because of this. However, going too cheap also means that they won't last long.

Generally whatever is in the mid price range for microphones and headphones it what I'd recommend.
