"Where is it?" A game utilizing Google Street View

by Bazza » Sun Aug 10, 2008 12:08 pm

Had this idea for a new game pop into my head, which may or may not have been flogged from another forum.

Someone posts a picture of a street/locality found using Google's street view, and other people guess where it is. The person who guesses correctly then posts their own picture. Rinse and repeat.

Since there are over 9,000 random miscellaneous side roads in the city, the place chosen should have at least a few clues as to its location. Failing that, divulging hints such as the general bearing of the picture would be required. If no-one guesses right after a few days, or if the picture is declared to difficult, the floor is opened up whomever gets in first. Also, posting the front of your own house probably isn't a good idea, nor is posting the front of someone else's.

Starting off, one which I think should be fairly easy.

That is the St. Agnes shopping centre in the background, with the road works that were being conducted earlier in the year. :)

I'm guessing Clovercrest Shopping Centre, but I'm probably wrong.

St Agnes Shopping Centre was my local when I first moved the Adelaide.

Yeah, it is wrong. I'm still looking through Google Earth to work out where the car park is.

No, Ryan is right. It's Clovercrest Shopping Centre on Montague Road in Para Vista. The Australia's Pizza house is behind the camera. I know this because of my learnings, and having perused the services of the aforementioned pizza house on many occasions.

So thats Me, Phill, James and Ryan who have or have had St. Agnes as their local. Quite surprising considering the statistical chances of that happening.

So, should we wait for Ryan, or should I post one you'll probably never get? 8)

The rules on the forum I stole the idea from state that Ryan may decline to post a picture if he so wishes, which opens the board to whoever gets in first with a picture. Or, if he fails to respond for 5 days, the board is then automatically opened up to the first new post.
